Pre-Employment Screening

Employers enter into an agreement or relationship with prospective employees with several uncertainties and concerns.  Those concerns range from dishonesty, omissions on applications and liability to workplace violence, embezzlement, or other types of theft and fraud.

Do you ever feel like, hire or don’t hire?  We can take the uncertainty out the hiring decision. Here are some items you should consider when selecting applicants:

Employee Dishonesty
National statistics show that approximately 14% of pre-employment investigation findings reveal a discrepancy with the social security number, date of birth, or spelling of the applicant’s name.  Some applicants may try to conceal an undesirable past by providing fraudulent documents or an invalid social security number, incorrect date of birth, or a slight but strategically misspelled version of their name.

KAP Business Solutions ensures that the spelling, date of birth, and social security numbers are all accurate, which then ensures 100% accuracy of any other searches such as criminal history searches, civil filings, and/or driving history.

Conveniently Omitted & Incomplete Information
Some employees fail to list all former employers, former married names, maiden names, or even previous counties that they have resided.  We conduct a complete check to ensure that all areas are searched for what you request, and also that nobody slips through the cracks by searching under a “John Doe” with no record, however the same person with a former name of “John Smith” had three felonies.  Believe us, it happens quite often with other companies so we take the anxiety away from you.


Workplace Violence/Safety

Recent history has shown us that a person with a violent criminal past, be it a public display or a domestic situation, they have a propensity for violence in the workplace.

Some applicants will deliberately withhold conviction information to hide past criminal activity and a violent past.  Employers can be held liable for employees who commit acts of violence while at work, especially if the employer failed to do a due diligence check into the employees’ criminal history.  This is more prevalent where employees have unsupervised contact with the public.

Such violent crimes includes but not necessarily limited to:

Battery
Aggravated battery
Domestic battery
Disturbing the peace
Fighting
Murder
Rape
Sexual assault
Injury to a child, etc.

Education & Credential Confirmation
A Professional License search is used to find out if the applicant in fact has a professional license to practice in a certain field or position, such as CPA, RN, etc. that requires a license. 

30% of job applicants lie about degrees earned, institutions attended, or dates of attendance.  The majority of the violators embellish their achievements.  Vocational training, certification, and professional licenses are often misrepresented.  Other areas of corroboration KAP Business Solutions will confirm are high school diplomas, college degrees, professional licenses and vocational training.  All reports will be completed within two working days.

Reference Checks (Personal & Professional)
KAP Business Solutions will check the work history and personal references listed by your applicant.  Experience has shown, as many as 5% of work references are phony and roughly 20% are “expanded” to cover other unlisted employment, reference-checking works.

Driving Records
According to the courts, an employer is negligent when hiring drivers without checking their driving history.  If you send employees on errands, whether in company or private vehicles, you are doubly exposed and extremely liable.  These records utilize the driver’s license number to obtain information such as driving performance, including citations issued and accidents.  We can access driving records from all states and accessed through the Department of Motor Vehicles.  Depending on the state the report provides three to seven years of the applicant’s driving record with the best possible turnaround time.

Driver’s License Verification
Our database search provides an applicant’s driver’s license number, classification, physical description, and date of birth.

Credit Reports
This database search is used to determine applicant’s financial history.  It can also be utilized to verify addresses, social security numbers, date of birth, and previous employment.

Our records show that 18% of Americans have credit problems.  If you require an individual’s credit profile, KAP Business Solutions can have information back to you in less than 72 hours.

Employers use credit reports if expensive equipment, cash handling, leased equipment, and managing other people’s property are part of the job requirement.  Credit reports review account balances, credit terms and payment histories for individuals or businesses.  If those assets described risk seizure by any applicant’s creditors, an employer’s knowledge of the applicant’s credit history is prudent.

KAP Business Solutions process credit reports for the sole purpose of employment screening only.  KAP Business Solutions will not take requests for personal credit reports.

Social Security Trace
This report verifies the relationship of a name and Social Security Number and alerts the reviewer of invalid or not issued Social Security Numbers.  It will determine whether or not a social security number matches the name and address of the individual user.  It may also identify other aliases, addresses or individuals using that number.

Assets
Public filing information can help determine the responsibility and reputation of a job applicant.  By checking for liens, civil litigation, bankruptcy, divorce, judgment and criminal, you can develop a complete profile of your applicant.
